If you have not seen the page on here entitled “Constitution 2.0”, I have decided that our Founding Document needs to be updated by an impartial 3rd party or parties. Since impartiality is not a common trait, I’m going to volunteer as the closest thing. I do have a few candidates for helpers on this fantastic voyage. Neither is common sense, but that is a post or three for another time.
There it is! The piece of paper that made it all happen. It’s amazing how so few words form the basis for what could and should be the end all and be all in ways of governance. But like everything else you entrust to a group of men, then mostly men. They fuck it up.
But look at it. Even by the standards of 200 years ago, it’s short. Not much to plan out at that time. We hadn’t evolved as a society yet. But after two centuries of progress we have issues even Ben Franklin could never have dreamed of.
Why does the rulebook for a tabletop miniatures game have an inch and a half thick rulebook AND a boatload of extras and our country has 3 pages? Now anyone with a smattering of Wh40k knows that learning even the basic rules is pretty much a college level course. And we all know how convoluted and confusing the laws of this country are.
Now, remember, efficiency and accessibility are the cornerstone of this project. A cumbersome multi-volume foundation of government is just going to make things worse.
What we need is an operations manual.
No business can operate without a business plan or operations manual. It’s time to rewrite our country’s business plan and operations manual. Some things need to spelled out in a little more detail so future generations don’t have to waste time debating what we really meant. Some things need consolidation, others need to be added.
