Let’s start at the very beginning. A very big step.

The single biggest obstruction in the path of real progress and change in our country is the existence of the Republican and Democrat parties. The quagmire of 49/51% politics only benefits the political parties, allowing them total control of who we get to vote for. It’s been more like who we vote against. No recent President has won because of who he is, just because he is “not’ the other guy. But luckily I have come up with a solution that I’d like to share with you. Now before we begin, I’d like everyone to close your eyes. (After reading the rest of the paragraph) Clear your mind of pre-concieved notions, let your thoughts on how things could be, should be or would be. Think about the problems, insanity and bullshit you have just witnessed during the last elections. Now close you eyes and breathe in…

Repeat 3 times and let’s begin.

I’m going to list some commonly heard things about our political system that my solution will remedy,

My party is not really indicative of my beliefs, But I am definitely NOT voting for that other guy.

The Electoral College is unfair, it only benefits the Republicans. We demand majority rule by the popular vote.

Money is the only factor in winning, The people who spend more ,win more.

A third party will never be successful because they will never have enough money to challenge to two ruling parties.

Candidates are frequently woefully unqualified for office. Since they usually run on a platform of ” Hey, at least I’m not the other guy”, They just have to talk about what they won’t do or why the other side is evil.

The voters don’t really participate on an effectual level.

I may think of a few more as I move forward but this is a good start.

Step 1 – Abolish The Republican and Democrat Parties. Crazy? Right? The stranglehold on progress these two have is suffocating. Imagine this….. Your house needs some serious repairs. Even some foundation repair. You hire DNC Home Repair and Welfare to fix it up. 60 years later, it’s still not fixed and DNC had nothing but excuses on why they haven’t fulfilled any of the promises they have been making. For 60 years! Why would you keep hiring them after 60 years of blaming the other repair company down the road? You wouldn’t. But the only other choice is not any better. We demand choice! After getting rid of these two, five parties will be established. Covering the four corners of the political spectrum. If you don’t know what they are, look it up.

With five parties, no single party can ever have a majority by 1%. With three parties, two parties could gang up on the third. That’s the”Mob Rule” thing the Founding Fathers wanted to avoid. Five is the right number. Now that the problem of only having to win six states to win the election has been taken care of, let’s go ahead and put the Electoral College in the Recycle Bin.

Step 2 – Money, Money, Money. All political donations will be put in a common fund to be distributed evenly among all candidates. This will eliminate the Money =Winning problem. All candidates will receive equal, unbiased advertising. No attack ads or slandering, and most importantly…….

No more campaign signs cluttering up the world!

By removing the money problem, candidates will be forced to run on their merits and skills. More of the “Who I am” and “What I can do” that we need. This brings us to my favorite part, Elections!

All elections will be structured like NCAA Basketball brackets. All five parties will have their own primaries, Each round will consist of a head to head debate between two candidates. This will not just be a debate but a skills and knowledge test as well. How truly qualified are these people? We will find out. How well do they know The Constitution (hopefully the new one, I am working on), their constituents? Even common sense, general knowledge. Make it like a job interview. Because that is what it is! It’s time we demand competency from our representatives.

Each Round will be televised live on Friday evening. Then a few times on Saturday, so every citizen gets a chance to watch and make a more informed decision. Sunday is voting day! ( I will outline my ideas on actual voting at a later date) By Monday we will know the winners and be ready for the next round.

In the final round of each party, the winner moves on to the Presidential Semi-Finals. The losers go to the Wild Card round where voters have to vote for one candidate from a party that they don’t belong to. The winner moves on the the 6th spot in the semi-finals. By making voters pay attention to the other parties it forces them to be exposed to opposing viewpoints and hopefully find common ground.

The Presidential Semi-Finals will consist of three head to head debates. With more difficult test questions, of course. Questions to show knowledge and understanding of We the People. Definitley some interview questions from the voters. The three winners will go to …

THE PRESIDENTIAL FINALS!

The final three candidates will have one round of debate, testing, examination and scrutiny. I haven’t gone in to details but it will be intense. Think bar exam. Not the lawyer one but learning every drink in your restaurant in less than a week. Even the one that nobody ever orders and we don’t even have all the ingredients any more. lol Yes, the lawyer kind.

The winner and his running mate become the next President and Vice President.

I’m going to stop here and continue at a later time. My fingers are tired and I will let you all chew on that for a bit.

When the old way doesn’t work well any more, you must think of every solution before you find the best one.
