The nine most terrifying words in the English language are “I’m from the Government and I’m here to help”
I’ve read this quote has been credited to Ronald Reagan. I’m sure if you looked on the internet long enough you could find it credited to someone else and stolen by Ron. Or it’s really an ancient Muslim proverb that was culturally appropriated centuries ago.
Whatever the source, this statement has been a cornerstone of my belief system since before I had ever heard of it. I grew up listening to The Dead Kennedys and mid-80s punk rock. Ronnie Raygun was the enemy! Jim and Tipper Gore of PMRC fame were evil incarnate for us. Imagine my shock when a pearl of wisdom popped out of the mouth of Satan himself. Imagine my horror when the husband of the mother of music censureship became Vice-President.
No matter who said it, no matter if you personally agree or disagree with the statement. The sad truth is that the bumbling, incompetent, bloated, self-serving entity that our Government has become an object of terror for most of it’s citizens and those wishing to be citizens. It is the enemy of We the People. The very people who our country was founded to protect and provide us with life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Not life long debt, economic slavery and the pursecution of those who disagree.
We all have that friend or uncle who tries to help but always screws everything up. You wouldn’t call them to help fix your house, would you? Why do we keep calling Uncle Government to help fix your country? They keep screwing it up.
