Term limits are essential to removing the elected ruling class. Fresh people = fresh ideas. By the time a new young motivated Congressperson works their way through the chaos to a position they could make a difference they have already been seduced by the dark side. Another problem is that the politicians that have been in office for decades possess nothing but antiquated ideas and beliefs. It may have been revolutionary in the 60s.
It’s not the 60s anymore.
I’m 47 and feel totally overwhelmed by the advancement since my childhood. I see the problem people in their 60s and 70s have with modern concepts. Why are these people making the decisions for our future? They may say they know us. that they understand. They came up during a very different time. Even if they accept a modern concept, it will never be accepted as “everyday normal” to them. Because it isn’t. No matter what the situation is, those Politicians in office for decades don’t live in our world.
They may act like they are considering the future but no matter what they say, they are not personally invested in the future because they are only going to be there for the very beginning of it.
