I’ve been trying figure out how express the idea that EVERYONE. White, brown, red, yellow, rainbow and especially black need to stop using the N’ word. I totally get the “take the word back” mentality of when they started it back in the day. But when it’s in almost every hip pop song or movie out, when Takeshi69 and the Twisted Tea Asshat think it’s OK to use on a minute by minute basis. It’s gone a little bit of target.
We need to get back to when the N-word was something that you just DID NOT SAY. And even when you heard black folks use it, it made you uncomfortable.
The N-word, as well as the C-word, if you’re not British, are like nuclear bombs. Only use as a last resort. Very last resort. Not greetings, signs of affection or pronouns. Nuclear Bombs. 💣
Just like violence on TV, if you see it all the time. You become desensitized.
Desensitized to the point that in order to shock people nowadays you have to sexually assault a 13 year old and post the videos on YouTube.
I miss the days when NWA and PE were considered “shocking” and “controversial”. That is exactly the shocking controversy we need. Not racism and degrading behavior wrapped up in money to make it go down easier.
