I try to stay as far away from religious discussions. Especially when you get away from the historical and objective and get in to beliefs and faith. And organized religions. Which, like huge authoritarian government, I find to be inherently very bad. They exist to control large amounts of people and money.
Many many people on the left do not believe in God, your God, my God or any God at all. But they sure believe in the infallibility of the Democratic Party. That it is here to deliver the chosen ones, ie those smart enough not to believe in something they can’t see or touch. Smarter than us and not afraid to let us know. They are better because they don’t let the Roman Papacy dictate how they should think or act. They definitely too smart for that.
Beside delivering their chosen people to the promised land of rigidly enforced shared misery, the party will punish the infidels and nonbelievers. Banishing them to the outer reaches of the country and internet. Public shaming and physical violence. Because they are right and everyone else is wrong.
They refuse to even entertain the idea of a benevolent diety possibly existing but sell their soul to, as far as I can tell, a God of vengeance, retribution and domination.
