Can Socialists and Capitalists Find Middle Ground? Only in my dreams.

I think everyone should watch this video. Watch it very carefully. Listen to what these folks are saying. Comprehend what they mean. You notice something? It’s an acceptably racially diverse group. Did you notice one very important group missing? We the People! I’ll take the chance and say these people have a serious lack of real world life experience. I don’t think they quite understand the reality of what they are talking about. Socialism does indeed take care of everyone’s needs but altruism, if it actually exists, only goes so far. And it goes nowhere on a national level. For Socialism to work everyone has to be emotionally invested in the system. To be willing to work harder so someone else can work to their ability requires extreme commitment and belief in the party and the people who are making the decisions are making the right decisions for the greater good. Such things can not be forced. If you do, you have already lost. Force creates dissadence. Dealing with dissadence requires more force. And so on and so on.

What people don’t quite get, and I’ll chalk it up to the inherent arrogance of the human race, is the same kind of corrupt politicians we have now would be making the decisions. Just like in The Soviet Union and Cuba and pretty much everywhere. Corrupt politicians are what we got. No amount of Nievety of Academia is going to change that.

Socialism kills ambition. If everyone is taken care of equally by the State, why would anybody work harder. If you don’t believe me go find a busy restaurant that does a tip pool instead of the servers keeping their own tips. Tip pooling is awesome when all the servers are extremely good and all the customers tipped accordingly. Not a good thing at all when lazy servers get tipped just as much as the top dog servers. This causes the good servers to become shit servers because “Hey, why try? We are all getting paid the same. Next thing the restaurant closes due to sales decreasing due to bitchy servers and shit service. And everyone is miserable.

On the other far right hand, we have the runaway Capitalism of Corporate Greed. We don’t have to speculate at all one this one. It does not work. For everyone.

Americans have been trained into Rabid Consumer Junkies desperate to obtain the next big thing of the minute. I’ve seen videos of Christmas shopping at Walmart that make food riots look like an AARP meeting. Pathetic. We have literally paid corporations to take over our lives.

Unfortunately capitalism is the driving force behind anyone who ever wanted to own their own business, record an album or become a sports star. And this is good. Drive and ambition are hallmarks of the good parts of the American Dream. It’s what has made us outstanding. Outstanding before we lost our way and became a bunch of assholes.

Except We the People. The poor and working folks of this country are pretty much the same as they always have been. Working hard and doing whatever we have to get by and hopefully make life a little bit better.

Just like everything else in the universe, we must have balance. Or we will fall.
