I hope by now We the People are familiar with the Political Compass and all of it’s many many points. We have been blasted with Left or Right for years. Now, just to make it interesting, the notion that the Left here in the US is actually to the right of Center on the grand world political stage. They are just Left of the Republicans. More wordplay by people who don’t do it very well.
So we have left to right, back and forth. Pretty evenly balanced, it would seem. “Chef, you are always babbling on and on about balance. This should make you all warm and fuzzy on the inside”. It should but when you add in the next axis of the Political Compass, up and down or Authoritarian or Libertarian, you see that both the Left and Right are both intent on moving us up the scale towards more Authoritarianism. Many folks are all about that. For whatever reason they believe the Government will wield their authority in a responsible manner. As a modern Enlightened Despot.
That is never going to happen. Ever. Not with the Government we have now.
