And yet another example of old people making poor decisions.

I’m sure everyone has received or will receive a letter like this informing us of our most recent hush money payment. Yay money! But in today’s modern society why are we wasting money on informing us by snail mail?

Let’s see how much this one letter of redundancy costs The Government. And by extension us.

We will assume only half of the tax payers got a letter. That’s about 150 million people. The cost of a first class presort bulk mail letter is 36 cents. The postage alone is around 5.4 billion dollars. Add in the cost of product (envelopes, paper at 2 cents each) that’s another 300 million. So far that’s 5.7 billion dollars. Without even adding labor, gas and other costs which makes this even more of a total waste of money.

This is because old people have no clue how to incorporate modern technology into their every day lives.

Bulk mail is what my father did for a living. It was breathing it’s final breathes in the early 2000s. It’s on a ventilator now waiting for death.
