It’s a proven fact, whether we accept it or not, that we tend to fear what we don’t understand. White people fear black people because they don’t really know any. Black people fear white people because white people are acting like assholes because they fear change because they thought or were taught things were hunky sorry and they aren’t. Latinos fear getting deported for the smallest infraction. Everyone fears change, uncertainty, being wrong and COVID-19.
Conquering fear involves a large amount of trust. Trust that the black guy you met at work is not anything like black men are typically portrayed in the news. Trust that white lady in line next to you isn’t calling you a N-word under her breathe like the media and politicians are telling you. Trust that We the People share more common problems than the powers that be want us to know. Why? Because common problems bring unity to those suffering those problems. Even something as catastrophic as COVID-19 or the current storm season, which should unite people are being used to divide us.
I have been searching for weeks on all 7 of my news apps for a story, any story, that doesn’t have any divisiveness to it. And I have failed, miserably.
The media, our Government and, as it seems, the overwhelming majority of people on the internet with excessive free time thrive on decisiveness. It’s worse than coffee drinkers. It’s worse than football fans.
And it’s only getting worse. While we are bickering about bullshit, the Government is bending us over again and again. While we are bitching about who wore a tuxedo at some rich people only Met gala, the Government is fucking shit up even more.
