MLK Day thoughts. A day late because I want to be special.

There is no doubt in the collective mind of the world that this was a great man. You should already know why. If you don’t, go find out. The two things I admired most about Martin Luther King are…

His amazing oratorial skills. The man could speak! And speak the truth! He could read stereo instructions and make people emotional about rca cables. His voice, diction and delivery are God like. Chuck D gets close but he conveys the anger that comes after a man like Martin’s dream is shit on for 20 to 30 years. Completely understandable. But that leads me to the second point.

Martin Luther King stood tall and unflinching before the storm and preached the truth to a world that wasn’t ready nor want to be ready to hear it. The unflinching, calm, poise and power of will he showed in the face of sheer hatred solely based on something as stupid as the shade of his skin and the desire for all people to be equal is monumental. That’s probably why his monument in DC is a huge stone MLK. It’s fitting.
